Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 125: Hamels throws 109 pitches in the rain (58-67)

Well, not all of his pitches were thrown in the rain, but the first two innings featured heavy rainfall. It is inexplicable for the Phillies to allow their 144 million dollar pitcher, signed for six more seasons, to pitch in an absolutely meaningless game in a driving rainstorm. Last year, the Phillies were leading the Mets by 8 runs in the eighth inning, and they still had Hamels out on the mound throwing over 100 pitches. It's insane. I don't even care that he got through 6 innings in this game (an eventual win) without getting hurt. Hamels was obviously unhappy with the conditions, and rightly so. His manager is an imbecile.

Can we just sign-up the imbecile for five more years and get it over with? The players obviously love playing for someone who works at being comatose for a living.

When did this dead-head qualify for a Connie Mack-type "lifetime contract," anyway? Is it is "scintillating personality," because it can't be his managing ineptitude. Or does he know somebody who breaks heads for a living, at his bidding? Or does he have damaging photos of Phillies ownership cheating on their wives, or something?

That this man has the leverage to just keep rolling on with zero accountability for his being completely over-matched at his "trade," makes one wonder what the hell is going on in the back room where they smoke the cigars and broker the private "deals."
