Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 124: Back from the DL? Throw 115 pitches (81-43)

The Phillies are now guaranteed to stop their streak of zero consecutive losing seasons after last night's 5-0 victory over Washington. I probably would have removed Oswalt after the 7th inning (he had 96 pitches), but Manuel allowed him to pitch the entire 8th inning with nineteen more pitches. For someone coming off the DL, this seems a bit risky. I won't call this a bad decision, because at some point Oswalt needs to be able to throw 115 pitches before October rolls around. His third start after the DL, however, is probably too soon.

Other than Utley/Howard batting back-to-back, no real complaints for Manuel in this one.
