Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 113: Cole Hamels CG seals Phils series victory (74-39)

Despite Hamels' success on Saturday, his strikeout rate remained low. I'm not too worried about Hamels going forward, but it's always better to strike out the opposition than to not strike them out. The Phillies scored two runs in the top of the 1st inning that would prove to be enough for the star lefty. Matt Cain faced the minimum amount of hitters through 6 of the next 7 innings. In the other inning, he only allowed 4 batters to reach base. Both starters pitched extremely well, but this time Hamels had some good luck go his way.

I thought it was debatable that Manuel let Cole come out for the 9th inning. His pitch count was decently high, but it's not like the Giants lineup is that scary. I would probably have preferred to see his arm not get used in the 9th, but nothing to make a fuss over.
