Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 80: Lee shuts down BoSox (50-30)

The Phillies are now 20 games over .500 as Cliff Lee completely dominated the Red Sox. I must say, I was a little apprehensive about the Phillies chances coming into this game, but if Cliff Lee pitches like that, the Phillies better win easily. The left-hander allowed 4 base runners over 9 innings against a very strong Red Sox offense (yes, they were missing Carl Crawford).

Not much to say except that something needs to be done about Raul Ibanez. He's atrocious. His OBP is 0.281. Ben Francisco cannot possibly do worse than that, and he definitely plays better defense than Ibanez. Dom Brown had a good game tonight, which included a big 2-run homer off of Beckett for the Phillies first runs of the game. He also averaged 6 P/PA.

Not much to say about Charlie as usual when he doesn't need to make a pitching change.

Tomorrow, Vance Worley goes up against RHP John Lackey.
