Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 69: Phils win the night game after 9th inning comeback (43-26)

Charlie Manuel had a pretty good game last night, and the Phils won 5-4 in extra innings.

In the Saturday night game against Pittsburgh two weeks ago, the Phillies were trailing by two runs and Manuel decided to use JC Romero and Danys Baez to keep the game close. We wrote that Manuel forfeited the game (the Phils scored two runs in the 9th, but Baez and Romero did not keep the game close).

This game, however, Manuel actually used Michael Stutes and Antonio Bastardo in a game they trailed by two runs. One of our main complaints on this website is that Manuel uses his closer/set-up men with 3- and 4-run leads, but not when they trail by 1 or 2.

Hopefully last night's game is a sign of change, but I wouldn't bet on it.
