Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 51: Phils take first in NY (32-19)

Charlie Manuel might be blindly falling into an ideal batting order if he continues batting Utley second and Howard fourth for whatever reason he is doing it. Mr. Musser and I have been calling for Utley and Howard to be separated by a non-LHB for a very long time. Furthermore, statistics have shown that the two best batters in your lineup should bat second and fourth. Manuel is most likely doing this because Polanco "has been swinging the best bat", and "Utley is still trying to get back into the swing of things." Whatever the reason, I like it.

The game was probably a lot closer than it needed to be last night due to a miscommunication between Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins. The play is most definitely the SS's ball, but upon replay, it didn't really look like Jimmy was calling Chase off (Chase was calling for the ball). Did anyone else notice how pissed Rollins seemed afterwards? He just turned toward the OF and walked away as if he hated Utley.

Not really much else to say; Manuel just trotted pitchers out there according to inning (not a real complaint in this specific case).

Today, Cole Hamels faces off against Mike Pelfrey at 7:10 PM.
