Cole Hamels started the game tonight, and was pretty filthy. He went 8 innings, struck out 8, walked 1, and allowed 5 hits. The Phillies offense struggled again tonight, and scored the go ahead run due Chris Iannetta's awful attempt at blocking a ball in the dirt. Rollins came through with the sac fly to score Wilson Valdez.
Since the Phillies were leading going into the 9th inning, Ryan Madson was called upon to pitch. It was very clear that he wasn't on point with his pitches as he found himself in a lot of deep counts. He admitted after the game that he didn't feel right having not pitched in 5 days. However, his stuff is so good that he was able to strike out Carlos Gonzalez, Troy Tulowitzki, and Jason Giambi to end the game after allowing a leadoff double to pinch hitter Seth Smith. I certainly hope that everyone's fear of Ryan Madson not having a closer's mentality has officially been wiped clean. His stuff is just nasty.
Tomorrow Joseph Blanton faces RHP Jhoulys Chacin.
P.S. I hope Chase Utley and Shane Victorino come back soon. I'm absolutely sick of seeing Wilson Valdez and Michael Martinez almost every single day.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Raul get one of the key hits in the game and score one of the two Phillies runs?
right, so if manuel bats kyle kendrick in the cleanup position, and he hits a grand slam in the first inning, then was it the right decision or simply luck?
i feel like Aaron J Warren is the type of guy who opens a pack of gum, sees a lightning bolt in the sky, and believes cinnamon trident can predict the weather.
