Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 17: Phils avoid sweep (11-6)

The Phillies offense only mustered 9 base runners all day. I didn't see most of the game because of work, but looking at the box score, the answer seems pretty simple. This team exhibits absolutely 0 plate discipline. Here are the starters P/PA yesterday:

Victorino: 20/4 (very solid)
Polanco: 10/4 (absolutely atrocious)
Rollins: 13/4 (pretty bad)
Howard: 22/4 (great)
Francisco: 12/4 (bad)
Mayberry: 9/3 (bad)
Ruiz: 14/3 (solid)
Valdez: 11/3 (pretty bad)
Lee: 4/1 (good)

Polanco saw 2.5 P/PA. Is that a joke? Yea, he hit a 3 run homer, but still, come ahn man, Mayberry even saw 3/PA.

Lee didn't have his best game; he only struck out 1, walked 1 and gave up 8 hits.

Kyle Kendrick faced the top of the Brewers lineup (albeit all RHBs), so I don't really know how I feel about that. Aside from that, there's not much to say besides at least the Flyers didn't get ripped off, and penalties were called fairly for both teams last night. Wait...
