Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 146: Lineup falters but Hamels wins (85-61)

Charlie Manuel made no glaring mistakes tonight as the Phils beat Florida, 2-1, to take a 2-game lead in the NL East. Cole Hamels allowed one run (thanks to more lazy defense from Ryan Howard) in 6 2/3 innings. The only reason he did not pitch the whole game was the 127 pitches he threw. Chad Durbin came in for the last out of the 7th, and Ryan Madson/Brad Lidge shut the game down with only one baserunner between them. Manuel made no mistakes with the pen tonight.

The Braves lost to the Nats, and tomorrow afternoon they are starting their least effective pitcher, Mike Minor.

Roy Halladay goes for the sweep tomorrow night at 7:10 pm against a to-be-determined Florida pitcher.
