Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 144: Oswalt shuts out Mets (83-61)

Thank God Oswalt pitched a complete game shutout yesterday. I think that's the only way that Charlie Manuel will not go to Ryan Madson in a 3 run game.

I probably would have started Ben Francisco in LF yesterday since Citi Field is so big, and a LHP was on the mound for the Mets. Ibanez did homer though.

Not much to say about yesterday's game.

Hopefully, Manuel and the Phillies will align the starting rotation in the way that was suggested by commenter Bob the other day. Mr. Musser and I talked about it last week, and all that would have been necessary is to have pitched Oswalt Saturday in NY instead of Sunday. He would have been on normal rest because of the day off, and then Hamels Halladay and Oswalt would be set up to pitch both series against the Braves down the stretch.
