Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 142: Manuel continues troubling trend (82-60)

Roy Halladay wasn't great Friday night, but he pitched well enough over 7.2 innings for the Phillies to get the win. The Phillies bats were solid against Jenrry Mejia. Utley and Howard both had homers in the game, a good sign.

However, after Durbin finished the 8th for Halladay, Manuel used Ryan Madson to pitch the 9th inning up 4 runs. Awful. We've been through this before, and have a 99% chance of winning the game up 4 in the ninth. Throw Contreras. Let Durbin come out for the ninth. Anything to help give Ryan Madson a break. Brad Lidge has already gotten hurt from being overused, and Ryan Madson will probably be right behind him as he's pitched on 6 of the last 8 days.
