Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 93: Oldest player in the game suffers injury, Phils lose (48-45)

Chris Carpenter dominated the Phils' lineup tonight in the 7-1 loss.

There's really not much to say about Charlie Manuel; he was forced to use Andrew Carpenter in a 0-0 game in the second inning due to Jamie Moyer's injury (thanks for cutting Nelson Figueroa, Mr. Amaro!). A. Carpenter let up 3 runs in 3 innings. With the score 3-0 in the 5th, Manuel used Danys Baez. Clearly the worst Phils' reliever this season, he should not have been put into a close game against the top of the Cards' lineup. He gave up 3 more runs. It was Manuel's only mistake, but it cost them three runs. Do not use Baez. This one is just as much on the front office, however, as it is on Manuel. Baez should not be on this team.

Fun fact: the Phils lead the division in runs scored.

Tomorrow night the Phils go for the series loss when Joe Blanton faces LHP Jaime Garcia at 8:15 pm.

That's not a fun fact for me. We are terrible recently.

A more fun fact: Every NL division's standings are in order correlated to the teams' run differentials. No AL division can claim that (yes, inanimate objects can make claims).

I had a dream last night that I was at one of the Stanley Cup Games this year. I was "backstage" when a limo drove past me, and Donovan McNabb got out covered from head-to-toe wearing NY (mostly Mets) garb. I was furious. He was driven out onto the ice to show off his gear to the fans. They didn't take kindly to his antics.
