Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 34: Manuel questionably starts Moyer, Phils win (21-13)

I don't understand why a manager would voluntarily start a LHP against the Milwaukee Brewers, especially when his name is Jamie Moyer. There was some speculation that Joe Blanton would move up and get the start due to all of the postponement's in Colorado earlier in the week. The Brewers absolutely slaughter LHP due to the presence of Rickie Weeks, Ryan Braun, Casey McGehee, and Corey Hart. Despite Moyer starting the game and allowing 5 R (4 ER) in 6.1 IP, the Phillies won due to a good offensive showing.

Howard, Ibanez, and Utley all hit homers in the game, and Shane Victorino went 3/5 with 3 RBIs and a 3B. Polanco was the only position starter to not record a hit. The Phillies scored 9 runs on 11 hits and 2 walks, which basically rendered Moyer's below average start a moot point.
