Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 17: Figueroa's spot start a success (11-6)

As the injuries have been catching up with the Phillies this season, Nelson Figueroa was needed to make a start for the Phillies on Saturday night. Seeing as how every active Phillies starter aside from Halladay has been atrocious, it was a pleasant surprise when Nelson Figueroa went 5 IP while allowing 5 hits and 2 walks with 4 Ks. He wasn't in line for the win, but the bullpen went 4 IP while allowing 3 base runners.

All of the game's scoring occurred by the long ball. Werth had two solo shots (1st and last runs of the game), Ibanez added his first home run of the year, and Kelly Johnson hit a two run shot. The Phillies only managed 6 hits, but still got the win.
