Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 16: Hamels gives a 2009 performance (10-6)

Friday night, the Phils were afforded an undeserved run on a bad call on Jayson Werth's fly ball that turned into a 4-base error, but Cole Hamels bailed out the umpires by allowing 5 runs in the fourth inning. 7-4 final. One error by Manuel tonight, but it was a curious decision to sit Raul Ibanez in favor of Ben Francisco. Arizona's starting pitcher is significantly better against RHB than left, and he seemed to acknowledge that by allowing Brian Schneider to start instead of Carlos Ruiz. Francisco, however, went 2 for 4 on the night. JC Romero was brutal in his first appearance of the year, allowing a walk and a home run to the only two batters he faced.
