Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 160: Manuel lacks sense of lineup dynamics (92-68)

For the second straight game, Charlie Manuel filled the 2nd lineup slot with the worst OBP amongst starting position players. Last night, Miguel Cairo followed Shane Victorino in the Phillies order as Jimmy Rollins was given the night off. Similar to Mr. Musser, I too agree with alternating the rest days of the Phils' regulars. However, it is believe by many that the two most important spots in the lineup are the 2nd and 4th (essentially equal, but suggesting different qualities). It is my belief that Utley should permanently fill the 2 hole, while Werth bat third. Also, while it's okay for Manuel to rest some players, I don't think he should get carried away with it as the Phillies will have Monday and Tuesday completely off, and if things work out, the Phils would not need to travel for the game on Wednesday

Yes, the Phillies have clinched the division, but I would rather play the Rockies than the Dodgers in the first round of the playoffs if I were the Phillies. That's just me though.

Oh, by the way, the Phillies lost 7-2, and Joe Blanton did not look his best. If the Phillies want to succeed in the postseason, they will need Blanton to step up as the number 3
