Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 153: Lee smoked by Milwaukee (89-64)

Cliff Lee lost his third game as a Phillie last night as the Brewers won, 8 to 4. Catcher Paul Hoover started for the Phils due to Carlos Ruiz's wrist injury, and Raul Ibanez given a night off due to LHP Manny Parra.

There's not much Manuel could have done last night. After the 4-run first inning Milwaukee put up, Lee seemed to settle down until allowing three more in the fifth on Prince Fielder's home run. Brad Lidge pitched the seventh inning with a 5-run deficit: he made it a 6-run deficit. This is the type of situation in which Lidge should appear. Maybe he can close next year, but he's done for 2009.

Tonight the Phils look to reduce their magic number to 3 as RHP Kyle Kendrick starts in place of Pedro Martinez. He will face RHP Braden Looper at 7:05 pm.
