Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 149: Phils take first game of doubleheader easily (88-61)

In the first game of today's doubleheader, Joe Blanton pitched 7 scoreless innings as the Phils won, 9-3. Sergio Escalona allowed three runs in the 8th while Tyler Walker and Clay Condrey pitched the final 1 2/3 innings.

Manuel rested Carlos Ruiz and Pedro Feliz, allowing Paul Bako and Miguel Cairo to start. Cairo was 2 for 5 with an RBI.

There's not much to say about a game where the offense puts up 9 runs and the starter allows 2 hits over 7 innings. Manuel stayed away from the core of his bullpen, and hopefully the Phils can take game 2 tonight.
