Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 133: Lidge blows 10th save (77-56)

The Phillies are now only 6.5 games ahead of Florida after last night's 5-4 loss to Houston. The Phils were up 4-3 going into the ninth, but then Brad Lidge came into the game.

I can't really fault Manuel for going to Lidge last night, because he had been okay lately; however, Lidge should be done. Brett Myers pitched the 8th inning and looked pretty sharp. Myers may not be a lockdown closer right now, but he certainly will not be any worse than Lidge. Move Myers into Lidge's role, and keep Madson as the set-up man. With 29 games left, Myers can ease himself into the closer-role before the playoffs -- if they even win the division. There are six games left against Florida, and despite Florida's failure to outscore their opposition this year, anything can happen with such few games remaining.

Currently, the Phils are losing 4-2 in the 7th inning, while Florida is leading their game. It will be an interesting final month.
