The top pitch, which is clearly over the plate and right at the knees of the Mets' hitter Luis Castillo, was somehow called a ball. The other two pitches, one of which is well off the plate to Utley while the other is at Shane Victorino's chest, were both called strikes. In a tie game, every pitch is critical. Chris Wheeler, however, was too busy talking about a Phillies-Mets game from 23 years ago instead of, you know, actually analyzing the awful strike zone and its impact on the Phillies-Mets game from 2009. I'm not sure if the broadcasting is worse than the umpiring, but either way, Harry Kalas is furious somewhere.
