Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Game 40: Phils pound Burnett, Myers looks good (23-17)

Phillies opened the series tonight with a big win over the Yankees, who had come in winning 9 straight. Rollins homered on the first pitch. Carlos Ruiz had a big 2-run home run. Werth and Ibanez had to long homers. Everything went well for the Phillies in the game tonight.

Still three lefties in a row. I really hope Manuel plans on splitting them up tomorrow and Sunday against lefty starters. It's usually not a problem until late in the game when the opposition can counter with a LOOGY who specializes in getting them out.

Very curious start of Feliz over Dobbs tonight. With two lefties set to start the remaining two games, it doesn't look like we will see Dobbs at all in this series besides maybe in a pinch hit scenario. Glad to see Stairs start as the DH.

Also, I'm not a big fan of using Madson in the 9th up by 4. No, he didn't throw many pitches. Yes, there is a chance Happ will be losing tomorrow so you may not need Madson, but it's also very likely that Happ leaves early so you will probably need as many relievers as possible. I don't know, just seems like a waste of using Madson for the 6,7, and 8 hitters.

4 o'clock start tomorrow with J.A. Happ-L facing Andy Pettitte-L
