Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

What could have been?

The Flyers are fighting for home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs, and the NHL referees must not like the hotels in Philly.

The Flyers should have been awarded a power play in the 3rd period of tonight's game when Dan Carcillo was hit with a high stick. The refs missed it, but the Bruins player knew he did it. Right after hitting Carcillo, the Bruin approached Carcillo as if to ensure that he was alright, but the play continued. Within the next minute, Mark Recchi scored to make the score 4-2. The Flyers tallied with just over a minute remaining to make the score 4-3, but it was not to be.

Tim Thomas stopped 45/48 Flyers shots, but that Power Play would have likely at least kept the Flyers deficit at one, seeing as how they have yet to allow a SH goal on the season. The Flyers have 92 pts while the Hurricanes have 91. Who knows how the rest of the game would have played out, but the refs certainly messed up on that one.
