Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Phils to erase the half-game in the standings, for better or worse

With the Mets off-day today, the Phils will either enter into a first-place tie after tonight or, more likely, fall a full game back of New York. Ryan Dempster is slated to go for the Cubs tonight, squaring off against Cole Hamels.

Dempster is having a fantastic year, and his numbers are superb against both lefties and righties. However, lefties have a higher SLG% and a slightly higher OBP against Dempster this year. Since Hamels is a high-strikeout pitcher, third base defense for the Phils is not as important tonight as it is when Jamie Moyer or Kyle Kendrick start. For this reason, I'd like to see Greg Dobbs start at third base. I expect Charlie Manuel to agree with me on this one, which is a rarity. Look for Dobbs at third tonight.

Prediction for tonight's lineup:

Rollins, Utley, Burrell, Howard, Victorino, Werth, Dobbs, Ruiz, Hamels
