Charlie Manuel frequently makes poor strategic decisions. The 11-million dollar scoreboard in left field would probably do a similar job. We guarantee a post analyzing Manuel's decisions for every Phillies game. Please click on our aliases below to email us.

Are the Phillies seriously going to do this?

Cole Hamels pitched Sunday. Normal rest is four days, which means he should be good to start the first game after the all-star break on Friday in Miami. However, Jamie Moyer is scheduled to pitch Friday and Hamels is not scheduled until Sunday. This is absurd.

If Hamels pitches Sunday, he will not be able to pitch against the Mets when the Phils visit Shea next week. The Phillies, as you all know, are in a heated divisional race with the Mets, and the series next week is of utmost importance. The Phillies must throw their ace against New York. They have to. No numbers or statistical analysis in this post, it's just plain common sense.

*Also, even if Hamels pitches Saturday in Miami, since there is an off day on Monday, he would still have four days rest and be able to pitch Thursday against the Mets.

Please, Charlie, use your head and fix the rotation.
